My career started with Nederlands Dans Theater 2, under the artistic direction of Paul Lightfoot. For three years, I shared the studio with incredibly inspiring artists from around the world, people I still call my close friends and collaborators to this day. With the company, I performed repertoire by Sharon Eyal, Johan Inger, and Lightfoot & León, and took part in original creations by Alexander Ekman, Felix Landerer, and Juliano Nunes. We toured across Europe, Switzerland, Brazil, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, Israel, Turkey, and the USA. It was incredibly enriching to encounter so many different audiences and cultures at such a young age.

One of my intentions in embarking on a freelance journey was to work in a way that transcends institutional norms and to collaborate with artists who have the drive and initiative to make things happen independently. My first freelance project was a full evening with Kristian Lever.

Following that, I worked with many other independent creators, including Diego Tortelli and Dimo Milev. Keeping The Hague as my freelance base allowed me to form close ties with the Korzo Theater, which supports local, up-and-coming makers from various art forms. With them, I took part in new creations by Wubkje Kuindersma, Pari Scharafali, and Fay van Baar. I also discovered my love for dance theater through multiple collaborations with Korzo’s former house choreographer, Antonin Rioche.

My freelance career has repeatedly brought me to the Swiss mountains to perform at the Origin Cultural Festival. I’ve spent many summers on their unique stages dancing works by Juliano Nunes, Kristian Lever, and TBH—a collective I share with Boston Gallagher and Adam Russell-Jones. This is my favorite festival to return to, as the team, the mountains, and the setting have always felt incredibly grounding. Another cherished stage I feel lucky to have danced on multiple times is the Open Air Stage at Orsolina 28. It’s a home for dancers, created by dancers, that inspires endless generosity.

Gaining access to the world of ballet galas was an unexpected (and very exciting!) turn of events. Together with my friend Toon Lobach, we’ve performed on the stages of Les Hivernales de la Danse (Belgium), Roberto Bolle and Friends (Italy), Kammerballetten (Denmark), Rise Dance Festival (South Korea), and DAP Festival (Italy). For these occasions, I’ve had the chance to work with Marne van Opstal, Julian Nicosia, Juliano Nunes, Metamorphosis Dance, and Jacopo Godani.

The stage is where I feel equally generous towards myself and the audience. I love having the opportunity to create a shared moment of presence. I hope and plan to keep doing so for many more years to come.
