About me

My name is Ève-Marie, though in the dance community I’m most often known as Ève, or even Egg Magoo! I’m originally from Montreal, where I trained in both classical and contemporary dance at l’École Supérieure de Ballet du Québec. After attending the Nederlands Dans Theater summer intensive in 2016, I received a phone call that changed my life: NDT2 invited me to join the company immediately to fill their final female contract. I still remember exactly where I was and how I felt when that call came through.

I spent three unforgettable years with NDT2, performing works by Alexander Ekman, Leon & Lightfoot, Marco Goecke, Johan Inger, Felix Landerer, and many others, touring across the world. Being surrounded by such excellence, in and out of the studio, shaped me profoundly — in quality, creativity, work ethic, and discipline. I remain deeply grateful for the places we traveled and the colleagues who inspired me daily.

In 2019, eager to support new initiatives and artistic voices, I took the leap into freelancing. It was a scary jump, but the possibilities felt too exciting to ignore.

Since then, I’ve collaborated repeatedly with Korzo Theater, Diego Tortelli, Antonin Rioche, Juliano Nunes, Kristian Lever, Julian Nicosia, Metamorphosis Dance, and Imre & Marne van Opstal. I’ve performed at festivals and galas including the Origen Cultural Festival (Switzerland), CaDance (Netherlands), Les Hivernales de la Danse (Belgium), the Rise Dance Festival (Korea), and the DAP Festival (Italy).

Alongside my dancing career, I was entrusted early with roles as assistant and répétiteur for Alexander Ekman and Juliano Nunes, staging works for the Paris Opera Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, Staatsballett Berlin, and Birmingham Royal Ballet. I cherish the opportunity to help cultivate the kind of supportive, creative environment I valued as a dancer. I never expected to become a rehearsal director so young — the job truly found me — and I’m grateful it did. Coaching and directing have become genuine passions.

Teaching is also an important part of my life. Over the years, I’ve been invited to teach in Japan, Korea, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Mexico, Los Angeles, and New York. You’ll find more information on this site about the classes and workshops I offer.

Freelancing has allowed me to live my art with remarkable versatility. I’ve appeared in an FKA Twigs video clip, performed in a Louboutin fashion show, danced for Porsche at Salone del Mobile, organized the “More Than Movement” symposium, curated a festival in Seoul, participated in a dance reality TV show in Quebec — and I’m still dreaming of what's next.

People often ask if I’m living the life I always dreamed of. My answer is no — because my 15-year-old self didn’t even know a life like this existed. One of the most precious parts of my journey has been experiencing possibilities I never knew were possible. And I hope the surprises never stop.

Meanwhile, I aspire to continue evolving as a facilitator of movement, communication, and initiative within the dance industry. This funny little beautiful community of contemporary dance feels like home, and I hope to keep giving back as much as it has given to me.
