Interlinked by Juliano Nunes

Assisted for Birmingham Royal Ballet (2022)

I met Nunes while I was still a company member with NDT2 and have been dancing for and with him ever since. Interlinked was the first time I assisted him for a commissioned work. Nunes has a special talent for making dancers look their best, while asking them to do the most difficult elements. Although he uses classical ballet vocabulary, he induces his phrases with contemporary movement approaches that, to me, elevates the work in unexpected ways. Interlinked is a technically challenging piece packed with emotion that is beautifully intertwined with a score by Luke Howard.
